Mortuary refrigerators and body storage units
Explore mortuary refrigerators and refrigerated body storage equipment for funeral homes, hospitals, mortuaries and crematoriums. Prima-Tech offers refrigeration chambers for 2, 3 and 4 bodies, refrigerated catafalques and compatible equipment for handling and loading the deceased.
Available models differ in storage capacity, dimensions, refrigeration unit placement and internal configuration. Choosing the right system depends on your facility's available space, required capacity and method of loading.
Mortuary refrigerators for 2, 3 and 4 bodies
Our mortuary fridges provide refrigerated storage for the deceased, with configurations designed to accommodate bodies on stainless steel trays or coffins, depending on the model.
- 2-body mortuary refrigerator – two refrigerated storage positions, suitable for facilities requiring a compact storage solution.
- 3-body mortuary refrigerator – three storage levels for facilities requiring additional body storage capacity.
- 4-body mortuary refrigerator – designed to accommodate two bodies on trays and two coffins.
The standard temperature range is 0°C to +10°C, with optional configurations for -3°C or -5°C.
The refrigeration unit can be positioned differently depending on the model and installation requirements. Its placement affects the overall dimensions, so both the chamber size and the additional space required for the cooling unit should be checked before ordering.
Refrigerated catafalques for funeral viewing
A refrigerated catafalque combines a refrigerated compartment with an area designed for presenting the deceased during funeral viewing or farewell ceremonies.
Prima-Tech offers:
- 1-body refrigerated catafalques – with an upper glass viewing section.
- 2-body refrigerated catafalques – with an upper presentation compartment and a separate lower refrigerated compartment.
- Wood-effect refrigerated catafalques – featuring decorative exterior panels, with colour customization available for selected models.
Depending on the model, the compartments can accommodate coffins or compatible stainless steel trays. Check the individual configuration before ordering, as trays and other accessories may be supplied separately.
Mortuary trays and hydraulic loading trolleys
The right loading equipment is an important part of a practical mortuary refrigeration setup.
Our stainless steel mortuary trays measure 215 × 65 cm and have a specified load capacity of 150 kg. Their shaped surface features a lower central section.
For loading compatible trays into refrigeration chambers, Prima-Tech offers a hydraulic mortuary trolley with a foot pump and a specified load capacity of 250 kg.
Before ordering, verify the dimensions and compatibility of the tray, trolley and refrigerator, particularly the loading height and guide system.
Dimensions, cooling unit placement and installation
Before choosing a mortuary refrigerator, check the intended installation space and how the equipment will be brought into the building.
Key considerations include:
- Storage capacity – the required number of refrigerated positions.
- Chamber dimensions – width, depth and height of the selected model.
- Refrigeration unit placement – additional clearance needed for the cooling system.
- Doorway access – whether the equipment can be moved into the designated room.
- Temperature requirements – standard refrigeration or an optional lower-temperature configuration.
- Loading height – compatibility with trays and hydraulic handling equipment.
Where doorway height is limited, the installation arrangement may require individual assessment. Depending on the model and site conditions, installation of the refrigeration unit on-site may be possible.
Check the specifications of the selected model and confirm any non-standard installation requirements before placing an order.
